What the manufacturer says:

  • Dietary intake of omega-3 fatty acids and the ratio of their consumption to that of omega-6 fatty acids affect the overall amount of inflammatory activity in the body.

  • Specifically, EPA and GLA act as anti-inflammatory agents to decrease swelling of the tear glands, allowing the tears to flow more naturally.

  • Turmeric root possesses both antioxidant and anti- inflammatory properties. It reduces inflammation by inhibiting certain omega fatty acids from converting into pro-inflammatories.

  • Replenishing your body with omega fatty acids may help improve the quality of your tears by replacing the oils lost by our bodies, especially as we age.

  • The Mucin Complex contained in our formula acts directly on the mucin layer of the tear film by enhancing the mucus quality where mucus production by the conjunctival goblet cells have decreased.

What Rebecca Says:

This is not a product I'm personally using so I can't comment on it individually.

So instead, I'll just sum up my general position:

I agree with the position most doctors take in favor of Omega 3 supplementation for dry eye patients. Over the years, I've heard from plenty of people for whom just the right Omega 3 product seems to predictably tip the balance of their dry eye from unmanageable to manageable. So I encourage people to shop around amongst the highest quality Omega 3s - whether simply top quality flaxseed or fish oils or the more sophisticated, well-reputed formulations designed specifically for dry eye (such as this excellent one) - not giving up when one product doesn't have obvious results but pressing on until you find one that seems to have results for you.

MedOp is a well-established company near my old stomping grounds in the Tampa Bay area. They have a wide range of quality dietary supplements.
