This is a generic for Muro 128 ointment, for those of you familiar with that product.

Normally I don't normally stock things you can buy in a drugstore but I'm making an exception because Muro has gotten outrageously expensive and customers have asked if I could stock a generic. Also I know many people outside the US have no comparable product available locally.

Hypertonic ointment is not intended as a lubricating ointment (and as most of you know I don't like those anyway). So if you're just looking for another kind of thick goop to put in your eyes at night, this is not for you.

Hypertonic ointment is often recommended by doctors for patients who suffer from ABMD and/or recurrent corneal erosions. If you suspect or know you have one of those conditions, please discuss with your doctor whether this product may be helpful for you before trying it.

Ingredients:

Active ingredient per gram: Sodium chloride 5%.

Inactive ingredients: Lanolin, mineral oil, purified water, white petrolatum.

Uses:

Temporary relief of corneal edema.

Directions:

pull down the lower lid of the affected eye
apply a small amount (1/4 inch) of ointment to the inside of eyelid
apply every 3 or 4 hours or as directed by a doctor

Do not use:

except under the advice and supervision of a doctor

When using this product:

it may cause temporary burning and irritation

replace cap after use

to avoid contamination do not touch tip of container to any surface

Stop use and ask a doctor if:

condition worsens or persists for more than 72 hours

you experience eye pain, changes in vision, continued redness or irritation of the eye

Keep out of the reach of children. If swallowed, get medical help or contact a Poison Control Center right away.
