Please see "Rebecca's Rice Baggy" for a complete description of the Rice Baggy kit. Sorry - no photos yet of the new fabrics, but we'll have them in another week or so. PRODUCT FEATURES • Beautiful, soft organic cottons PRODUCT DESCRIPTION The slipcover is something I came up with to make rice baggies both more practical and more comfortable. The extra layer of insulation helps protect against "hot spots" (though I still urge you to be very careful not to overheat the baggy, and to shake it up thoroughly after heating before use) and in general makes the baggy as gentle as possible on the eyelids and surrounding skin. It also means you don't have to throw away the rice baggy every so often or, worse, be tempted to keep using it after it really OUGHT to be thrown away. REBECCA'S REVIEW All of these fabrics are in a creamy natural color. ORIGINAL: Soft, dense cotton knit - kind of like sweatshirt material but not stretchy. Still the top favorite and this is the one I expect to continue using daily. Perfectly comfortable and practical. NATURAL VELOUR: This is luscious. It really is 100% organic velour - no poly even in the backing. The supplier says they tried washing it 20 times and found the softness virtually unchanged. I'm still trying it out and will report back when I've used it enough that I can personally verify the durability in practice. If you have very sensitive skin, this is probably a good choice. I love the way this feels on my face. It's somewhat thinner than the Original, and I haven't really decided whether I like thicker better or not. (One of the "perks" of my job is I get to have one of everything so I can try all of them whenever I feel like it!) SHERPA: This is just plain fun... super soft and cuddly. I am sedulously guarding mine from my five-year-old, who fell in love at first sight. I fell in love at first touch. I am keeping this one for those "I need to pamper myself" evenings. Like with the velour, I'll report back after several more washings to let you know how it wears. From the swatch I would have expected shedding to be a problem but so far, in practice, it has not been. Interestingly... I wondered whether this would let enough heat through, but it most definitely did, in fact, of the three, this is the only one where I noticed a little perspiration when I took it off. CARING FOR YOUR RICE BAGGY SLIPCOVER It's so tempting to say what all vendors of products made with high quality fabrics say: Wash by hand in cold water, lay flat to dry, etc, etc, etc. But now and then I get tired of doling out advice that I am too busy or lazy to follow myself, so I will just be honest with you. Personally I throw them in the washing machine with my laundry and hang them up to dry. Your mileage may vary, so... please don't interpret that as license to wash them in hot water and throw them in the dryer for an hour and then come crying to me for a refund when it turns into a thumb warmer or turns blue from being washed with your new jeans. Bottom line, be nice to your rice baggy slipcover and it will behave reasonably in return. Expect some shrinkage at first, especially with the Sherpa, but we make them large enough to accommodate this. Finally, lest anyone should overlook the truly obvious... PLEASE DO NOT WASH YOUR RICE BAGGY. Just the slipcover. Purchase Rice Baggy Slipcover (spare)
